Airport Weather Doppler Radar

Weather Radar System :
Airport Meteorological Doppler Radar (DRAW) observes precipitation and airflow in precipitation areas around airports and air routes, and automatically calculates precipitation distribution, wind speed distribution, and low-level wind shear (microburst, shear line) from the obtained data. It is installed at nine major Japan airports nationwide with the aim of analyzing the results systematically and using the results to prevent aircraft accidents. Since 2016, we have been gradually updating to the new DRAW with dual polarization function.

Features

Since dual polarization function, improved data quality by adopting polarized data. The transmitter uses a transmitter module that incorporates a solid-state element, eliminating the need for periodic replacement of the transmitter tube (klystron) unlike conventional types. The transmission device consists of multiple transmission modules, and transmission modules can be replaced without stopping operation. Equipped with data processing to prevent deterioration of data quality even when transmission output fluctuates. Even if either horizontal polarization or vertical polarization data cannot be obtained, operation can be continued using data that can be output. Realized an observation sequence that enables low-level windshear information to be output every minute. Process airport weather Doppler lidar data that can grasp wind movement even without precipitation, and output low-level windshear information in the same way as DRAW.
