The Ocean Graphic Radar is a monitoring system for Ocean current (speed and direction, height, time period) in the range of several hundred meters by returning radar echoes from sea wave. JRC’s oceanographic radar emits radio waves to the ocean surface, which are then analyzed for things like tidal currents and waves that can be observed.
Oceanographic radar can observe the currents and waves on the surface of the sea ranging from tens to hundreds of kilometers. Two or more land-based radars emit radio waves to the sea, and the reflected echo from the sea is analyzed for more accurate result.
JRC’s Ocean Graphic Radar have flexibility in point of observation, lower in installation cost, maintenance cost, and loss risk. The radar reads the waves to determine the behavior of the ocean water.
Oceanographic radar emits radio waves from land to sea in the HF band or VHF Band (3 to 50 MHz). It can measure Ocean current situation (flow velocity, current direction) and waves condition (wave height, period, wave direction) by returning radar echoes from sea waves in the range of several hundred meters to about 100 km.
Wide lineups and many usage of Oceanographic radar.
- Short range (42MHz band type) : observable up to about 25km per every 0.5km
- Medium range (24MHz band type) : observable up to about 60km per every 1.5km
- Long range (13MHz/16MHz band type) : observable up to about 100km per every 3km
- Long range(9MHz band type)<Under development> : observable about 100km to 200km
